Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the immediate provision of 240 electric buses to 24 districts across southern Punjab, marking a significant step towards inclusive regional development. Chairing a high-level meeting on Saturday, she stressed the need to move away from city-centric planning and ensure equal infrastructure access for all districts.
Emphasizing that every district deserves equal attention, Maryam Nawaz said that villages must be uplifted to the level of major cities, with development projects tailored to public needs. The 240 e-buses will be distributed in the first phase, while an additional 500 will be launched in Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rawalpindi between August and October. A further 600 buses are set to arrive by year-end.
