Traveling from Karachi to Lahore has become expensive and challenging for people planning to celebrate Basant, as both airfares and train tickets have increased sharply.
With Basant approaching, flight ticket prices have risen significantly, creating problems for passengers. Sources say PIA and other private airlines have raised fares without warning, with one-way tickets crossing Rs68,000.
Due to high demand, prices are going up almost every hour. The February 5 public holiday has made the situation worse, forcing many travelers to buy costly tickets for early trips.
Passengers say airlines are taking advantage of limited seats by charging very high fares.
Railway travel is also under pressure. Trains between Karachi and Lahore are overcrowded, and tickets are hard to find. Many people who cannot get train reservations are left with no choice but to travel by expensive flights.
Citizens have called on the Civil Aviation Authority and other officials to take action against airlines for overcharging and to provide relief to the public.
