Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Visit Pakistan for SCO Summit

At Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will visit Pakistan from October 14 to 17, as announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning. During this visit, Premier Li will attend the 23rd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Government, scheduled to take place in Islamabad.

The SCO meeting, hosted by Pakistan, will occur from October 15 to 16, 2024, and will feature the participation of prime ministers from China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with representatives from Iran and India. Additionally, the Prime Minister of Mongolia and Turkmenistan’s deputy Chairman of the cabinet will attend as well.

PM Shehbaz will conduct significant bilateral meetings with the visiting delegations during the summit. The CHG meeting will focus on enhancing cooperation in various areas, including economy, trade, and socio-cultural ties, while also reviewing the organization’s performance and making key decisions regarding future collaboration and budget approval.
