China Urges Pakistan, Afghanistan to Ensure Citizens’ Safety

China has expressed deep concern over the recent border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging both nations to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and the protection of Chinese investments in the region.

In a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beijing called on Islamabad and Kabul to exercise restraint and resolve their differences through dialogue and mutual understanding. The ministry emphasized that stability and peace along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border are crucial for the region’s overall development and for safeguarding ongoing economic projects.

According to Chinese officials, the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan and Afghanistan remains a top priority. The ministry stated that any escalation of violence could endanger not only local communities but also foreign workers and companies contributing to infrastructure and energy development under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Beijing’s statement comes amid reports of heightened tension and skirmishes along the border, which have led to casualties on both sides. China expressed hope that both countries would strengthen communication channels and cooperate to maintain peace and stability.

Analysts believe that China’s reaction reflects its growing concerns about the security of its citizens and economic interests in South Asia. In recent years, Chinese companies have heavily invested in Pakistan through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of the BRI. Any disruption in regional peace could pose risks to these major development initiatives.

Observers also note that China maintains friendly relations with both Pakistan and Afghanistan and often plays a mediating role when tensions rise. Its call for calm highlights Beijing’s desire to prevent instability that could spill over into broader regional security dynamics.

Meanwhile, the international community continues to monitor developments closely. Many stress that peaceful dialogue and cooperation are essential to prevent further escalation and to maintain economic progress in the region.

In related global updates, the tragic death of Gaza journalist Saleh Al Jafarawi has drawn international attention to ongoing conflicts affecting civilians and media workers worldwide, underscoring the importance of peace and human security across all regions.

China’s latest statement serves as a reminder of its long-term commitment to regional stability and economic cooperation. It has once again urged all sides to prioritize dialogue over confrontation and to protect citizens, investments, and the shared vision of lasting peace.
