China has officially commissioned its third aircraft carrier, marking a major milestone in the country’s naval expansion and growing maritime power. The new carrier, named Fujian, is the most advanced in China’s fleet and represents a significant leap in naval technology and capability.
The Fujian features an electromagnetic catapult system similar to those used by the US Navy, allowing it to launch heavier and more advanced aircraft. Military analysts say this development positions China closer to achieving global blue-water naval operations.
During the commissioning ceremony, senior Chinese officials hailed the achievement as a symbol of national pride and strength. They emphasized that the new carrier will enhance the country’s defense capabilities and support regional stability.
The Fujian joins China’s two earlier carriers, Liaoning and Shandong, as part of an expanding fleet designed to project power across the Indo-Pacific region. Experts believe the new addition will play a key role in China’s ambitions to modernize its military and compete with Western naval forces.
The ship’s commissioning comes amid heightened tensions in the South China Sea and increased military activity in the region. Observers say the move signals Beijing’s intent to protect its interests and assert its influence over strategic waters.
With this development, China becomes one of the few nations capable of operating multiple advanced aircraft carriers, underlining its emergence as a dominant maritime power.
