China And Pakistan Unveil 2025-2029 Action Plan To Build A Shared Future

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited China from August 30 to September 4 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. He attended the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz held meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Both sides discussed bilateral ties, regional issues, and global challenges. They also launched the China-Pakistan Action Plan (2025-2029) to guide cooperation in the coming years.

The Action Plan will serve as a roadmap for political trust, economic growth, security collaboration, and cultural exchanges. Leaders from both sides stressed that the plan is designed to build a stronger partnership and create a shared Future.

China expressed support for Pakistan’s unity and development. Both nations agreed to upgrade the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to a new phase. Projects in infrastructure, industry, agriculture, mining, and technology were highlighted as important steps for shaping a prosperous Future. Plans also include expanding cooperation in digital economy, artificial intelligence, and cyber security.

The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to people-centered development. The Lahore Orange Line, Gwadar Hospital, and water desalination plants were cited as successful projects improving lives. China pledged new educational opportunities, including 3,000 training slots for Pakistani youth, ensuring that the next generation is ready for the Future.

On security, China and Pakistan agreed to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz assured full protection for Chinese projects and personnel, while China pledged continued support for Pakistan’s security needs.

Both sides emphasized that their partnership has remained strong for over seven decades. They agreed that cooperation will not only benefit their people but also contribute to regional.
