KARACHI: During treatment at a private hospital, a two-year-old boy who had sustained bullet wounds during aerial firing at a renowned restaurant close to the Bilawal House intersection in Clifton on Sunday passed away, authorities said on Thursday.

While the family of the victim, Sajjad Husain, appeared reluctant to pursue the issue, a case under sections 322 and 34 of the Pakistan Criminal Code was initiated on behalf of the state, according to Boat Basin Station House Officer Naseer Tanoli.

The young man was attending a wedding ceremony at the Barbeque Tonight with his family and other relatives. A stray bullet probably struck the youngster on the head as he exited the family’s vehicle at the location while they were parking it.
