The price of chicken meat has seen a sharp increase in Lahore and other cities across Punjab, with the current rate in Lahore exceeding Rs650 per kilogram, well above the official government rate of Rs594 per kilogram. This surge in prices is causing concern among residents, who are already struggling with high living costs.
The issue is not limited to Punjab; cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, are also experiencing significant price hikes. In these regions, live chicken meat is now priced at Rs490 per kilogram, with broiler chicken meat prices recently increasing by approximately Rs100 per kilogram.

Local traders attribute the rising costs to various factors, including supply chain disruptions, increased feed prices, and other market dynamics. Despite the district government’s efforts to regulate prices by issuing price lists, adherence to these rates remains inconsistent.
