Landslides caused by heavy rain have killed 30 people in Central Java, Indonesia. Authorities report that dozens remain missing.
The hardest-hit areas are Cilacap and Banjarnegara. In Banjarnegara, 10 people have died and 18 are still unaccounted for.
In Cilacap, 20 deaths have been confirmed with 3 people reported missing. Homes and roads have been destroyed by the mudslides.
Over 900 residents have been evacuated to safer locations. Seven people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Around 700 rescuers, including police and military, are involved in search and relief efforts. Excavators are being used to clear debris.
Authorities warned that continuing rain and unstable soil make the area dangerous. There is a risk of further landslides during rescue operations.
