Interior Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the ceasefire with Afghanistan is a step toward ending terrorism and restoring peace in the region. He stated that the government’s top priority is to protect citizens and ensure stability along the border.

According to officials, both countries have agreed to stop cross-border attacks and increase communication between their security forces. The move aims to build trust and prevent militants from using the border areas for violence.

Khawaja Asif said Pakistan is committed to resolving issues through dialogue, not confrontation. He added that peace with Afghanistan will benefit both nations by improving trade, border management, and regional cooperation.

The minister also highlighted that the ceasefire could help in providing humanitarian aid to civilians affected by past clashes. However, he warned that any violation of the agreement would be taken seriously and dealt with firmly.

Observers say the truce could be a turning point if both sides honor their commitments. The government believes this step can create lasting peace and reduce the threat of terrorism in border regions.
