CDA Explores Aerial Seeding for Tree Plantation in Margalla Hills
In a significant step to protect Islamabad’s forest cover, officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) met on Thursday to discuss innovative methods for a tree plantation campaign, particularly in the Margalla Hills and other vacant lands. The meeting, chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, included environmental expert Rizwan Mehboob, the Member Environment, and the Director General Environment.
The discussions focused on launching an extensive tree plantation drive for the year and explored the use of helicopters and drones for aerial seeding as part of the campaign. This approach aims to enhance the reach and efficiency of the plantation process.

Chairman Randhawa proposed that the initiative should involve students from educational institutions and the corporate sector, encouraging broader community participation and support for environmental conservation.
In addition to the plantation plan, Randhawa highlighted the urgent need for a comprehensive strategy to prevent and manage forest fires in the National Hill Park, particularly ahead of the upcoming fire season. Rizwan Mehboob offered his voluntary support to the CDA in controlling and mitigating these fires, further strengthening the collaborative effort for environmental preservation.
