CDA Launches Legal Action Against Major Islamabad Hotels

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has launched legal action against several hotels on Islamabad Club Road for illegally encroaching on green areas, the National Assembly was informed. Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, provided the details in a written reply to MNA Sher Afzal Khan.

According to the minister, ten hotels and motels along Islamabad Club Road and Murree Road had constructed unauthorized parking areas on the green belt within the road’s right of way. These areas were deemed illegal encroachments on public land designated as green space.

The minister added that the illegal parking structures were demolished on August 6, 2024, with assistance from the CDA’s Enforcement Directorate. Challans have been filed in the Court of Senior Special Magistrate, CDA, to pursue legal action against the hotels and motels under the applicable regulations.

Regarding delays in enforcement, the minister explained that repeated operations are being carried out to remove encroachments physically. Legal proceedings have already begun and remain pending before the Senior Special Magistrate, CDA, as authorities continue efforts to protect public green spaces.
