CDA has approved new projects worth Rs. 8 billion for Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Development Working Party, under the chairmanship of Muhammad Ali Randhawa, convened its 70th meeting to approve significant development projects totaling over Rs8 billion. Senior officials from the Ministries of Interior, Planning, and Finance were present at the meeting.

One of the major projects approved is the construction of underpasses at Serena Chowk/Convention Centre aimed at easing traffic congestion from Srinagar Highway, Khyaban-e-Suharwardy, and Murree Road. This Rs4.56 billion project will include underpasses on both sides of Serena Chowk and Srinagar Highway, along with three loops towards Khyaban-e-Suharwardy, with completion expected within six months.

Additionally, a project worth Rs3.99 billion was approved to manage traffic at the junction of 9th Avenue and Jinnah Avenue. This initiative will involve the construction of an underpass, a flyover, and protected U-turns to enhance traffic flow efficiency. Furthermore, the meeting sanctioned a Rs98.88 million project for implementing a Resource Planning/Financial Management System. Additionally, Rs53.03 million was allocated for hiring a consultant firm to establish a four-tier data center in Islamabad. These developments reflect the CDA’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and services in Islamabad, addressing critical traffic management issues, and bolstering technological capabilities for efficient urban governance.
