CDA Enforces New Rule for Islamabad Residents

The Capital Development Authority has issued a new directive requiring all residents of Islamabad to install water harvesting systems in their residential and commercial properties within a period of six months. The move is part of broader efforts to address water shortages and promote sustainable resource management in the federal capital.

According to officials, these systems will be designed to collect rainwater from rooftops and other surfaces of buildings. The collected water will then be redirected into the ground to help recharge underground water reserves, ensuring better availability of water in the long term. Authorities believe this initiative will play a key role in conserving water and reducing dependence on traditional supply sources.

The CDA has also made it compulsory for all new construction projects to incorporate water harvesting systems in their building designs. This requirement will apply to a wide range of properties, including residential homes, commercial buildings, farmhouses, government offices, playgrounds, and even rural developments within Islamabad’s jurisdiction. By making it a standard part of construction planning, the authority aims to institutionalize water conservation practices across the city.

Officials further stated that once the six-month deadline expires, CDA inspection teams will begin conducting door-to-door visits to ensure that residents have complied with the new regulations. These inspections will be carried out across مختلف sectors to monitor implementation and identify any violations.

Authorities have also issued a warning that strict action will be taken against those who fail to follow the directive. This may include heavy fines and other legal penalties, as the CDA seeks to enforce compliance and ensure that the initiative achieves its intended environmental and conservation goals.
