Islamabad Prepares To Launch Key Road Projects This Week

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is advancing major infrastructure and urban beautification projects to improve Islamabad’s livability.

Deputy Director General Environment, Irfan Azeem Khan Niazi, said the prime minister has emphasized modernizing the city’s infrastructure while enhancing green spaces.

Niazi told PTV News that the government plans to inaugurate two new flyovers at T-Chowk and Shaheen Chowk in the coming days, depending on the prime minister’s schedule. These flyovers aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve commuting efficiency in Islamabad.

The Interior Minister has directed the CDA to focus not only on timely completion of projects but also on improving surrounding green areas. CDA has started planting flowering and allergy-friendly trees to enhance environmental quality and reduce health risks for residents.

The Faizabad remodeling project is nearing completion. The project includes road widening and loop extensions, which are expected to improve traffic flow in one of Islamabad’s busiest areas.

The CDA is also continuing beautification work at major interchanges across the city. Landscaping and greenery installations have been completed or are ongoing at several locations to improve Islamabad’s visual appeal.

Officials said these projects are part of the government’s broader plan to modernize urban infrastructure while prioritizing environmental sustainability. The aim is to provide a safer, cleaner, and more visually appealing environment for residents and visitors.
