LAHORE: The Counter Crime Department (CCD) conducted a major raid on the residence of Aqeel alias Gogi Butt in Lahore, police sources confirmed on Friday. No arrests were made during the operation as the suspect was not present at home.
Officials said Gogi Butt has been hiding for several days and is believed to have escaped with his associates. Though he is on interim bail in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case, police clarified that the raid was linked to a separate investigation.
CCD teams also searched locations in Defence, a private housing society, and Gawalmandi, but the suspect managed to evade capture. Sources indicated that Gogi Butt’s movements have been traced to Rahim Yar Khan, and he was reportedly present during the armed attack that freed Khawaja Tareef Gulshan alias Teefi Butt from police custody.
Following Teefi Butt’s death, authorities have intensified their crackdown on gang members and facilitators. Police are using advanced tracking technology, including mobile locators, to trace the suspect and expect his arrest soon.
Earlier this week, a court extended Gogi Butt’s interim bail until October 13 after his lawyer failed to appear due to other court commitments. CCD confirmed that multiple teams in Rahim Yar Khan are actively pursuing those involved in the deadly assault that killed Teefi Butt and injured two police officers.
