This decision was prompted by the PCB’s request, emphasizing the need for timely approval to avoid complications in the matter.
A well-placed source within the Ministry for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) stated, “Recognizing the urgency of the matter, the prime minister has given permission for the sale of media rights for PSL 9.”
Initially scheduled to commence on February 8, 2024, PSL 9 faced a date change due to the simultaneous announcement of General Elections on the same day. As a result, sources indicate that PSL is now anticipated to begin around mid-February.

In December 2023, the ministry issued a letter to the PCB, restricting the board from making decisions involving financial and contractual implications without the patron’s approval.
In response, the PCB submitted a separate request to Prime Minister Kakar seeking approval for the sale of media rights for PSL 9.
This situation echoes a previous controversy when the PCB contemplated appointing Mohammad Hafeez as the Head Coach of the national team. It was clarified that the PCB Management Committee lacked the mandate to make such appointments.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
