A Pakistan Army captain was martyred while leading a successful counterterrorism operation in Dera Ismail Khan, where security forces eliminated 10 militants, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Thursday.
The intelligence-based operation was carried out on March 20, 2025. During an intense exchange of fire, 24-year-old Captain Hasnain Akhtar from Jhelum district embraced martyrdom while courageously leading his troops from the front.

According to the ISPR, security forces recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition during the operation. The slain militants were reportedly involved in multiple anti-state activities, including attacks on law enforcement agencies and targeted killings of civilians.
The military’s media wing honored Captain Hasnain, describing him as a fearless leader known for his bravery. “The sacrifices of such valiant young officers further strengthen our armed forces’ resolve to combat terrorism,” the ISPR statement read.
A sanitization operation is ongoing in the area as security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country.
