Cambridge Cancels May 9 Exams in Key Regions of Pakistan Amid Security Concerns

Cambridge International Education, in collaboration with the British Council and local Pakistani authorities, has officially cancelled all Cambridge O Level, IGCSE, and AS & A Level exams scheduled for Friday, May 9, in select regions of Pakistan due to ongoing security concerns.

Regions Affected by Exam Cancellation

The suspension applies to schools in the following areas:

  • Punjab Province
  • Islamabad Capital Territory
  • Muzaffarabad
  • Mirpur

Cambridge emphasized that the safety of students and staff is their top priority, and this precautionary measure was taken after careful assessment of the current security landscape.

Guidance for May 12 Exams Pending

For upcoming exams scheduled on Monday, May 12, Cambridge stated that further guidance will be issued by Sunday evening, May 11. Schools in the affected regions are advised to stay in close contact with Cambridge and the British Council for official updates.

Exams in Other Regions to Proceed

In regions not listed in the cancellation notice, exams on May 9 are still expected to proceed as scheduled, provided there is no further deterioration in the security environment. Cambridge will continue to closely monitor the situation and provide real-time updates if necessary.

Fair Grading Process Ensured

To ensure no student is academically disadvantaged due to the cancellations, Cambridge confirmed that they will implement standard assessment protocols to award fair and reliable grades in the affected regions
