Lady Willingdon Hospital Doctors Suspended After ‘C-Section Race’ Video

Health authorities in Punjab have taken strict action after a viral video exposed a disturbing C-Section Race at Lady Willingdon Hospital. The video showed two Caesarean surgeries being performed at the same time, with teams allegedly trying to finish first.

The C-Section Race video quickly spread on social media. Many users questioned how such behavior was allowed inside a public hospital. The footage also raised concerns about patient safety and professional conduct.

Medical experts have warned that such practices can be extremely dangerous. They say surgeries like C-sections require full focus and careful attention. Any form of competition during such procedures can increase risks for both mothers and newborns.

Public reaction has been strong. Many people expressed anger and disbelief over what they called a serious breach of medical ethics. Social media users also criticized the fact that the video was recorded and shared.

Following the incident, the Punjab health department launched an immediate inquiry. The Medical Superintendent and the head of the gynaecology department at Lady Willingdon Hospital were suspended. Officials described the case as “serious negligence.”

The situation escalated further on Friday. Authorities suspended the training of four postgraduate female doctors linked to the C-Section Race incident. An initial report called the act a clear violation of medical ethics and demanded explanations from those involved.

Over the weekend, more disciplinary actions were taken. Five postgraduate residents and two charge nurses were also suspended. They were directed to report to the health department headquarters. In addition, a female medical officer was sent back to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.

Interestingly, even a hospital cook was suspended as part of the wider action. Officials did not provide detailed reasons for this step but confirmed involvement in the incident’s environment.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique strongly condemned the incident. He stated that violations of hospital rules and standard procedures would not be tolerated. He added that such actions damage public trust in healthcare institutions.
