Bushra Ansari Rebukes Javed Akhtar For Allegations Linking Pakistan To Kashmir Attack

Pakistani actress Bushra Ansari has publicly criticised Indian lyricist Javed Akhtar for his recent remarks accusing Pakistan of involvement in the April 22 attack in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people. Without naming him directly, Ansari addressed the controversy through a video message posted during her fundraising tour in Germany and Switzerland.

In her statement, Ansari urged Indian public figures to avoid making inflammatory accusations without evidence, highlighting internal issues within India instead. She pointed to flawed visa policies and criticised Indian media personalities and military figures like Arnab Goswami and a retired army officer for spreading divisive narratives.

Ansari suggested Akhtar should follow the example of actor Naseeruddin Shah by maintaining silence instead of fueling tensions. She also emphasised that ordinary citizens on both sides often share mutual respect, recalling a warm encounter with an Indian woman, and stressed that “it’s not the people — it’s the governments and extreme voices poisoning minds.”

Her comments have been widely circulated in Pakistani media, earning her praise for defending Pakistan’s position and challenging the escalating rhetoric from Indian figures.
