Jasprit Bumrah made history on the fourth day of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy test between India and Australia at the MCG. The Indian pacer dismissed Travis Head for the second time in the match, adding another achievement to his already impressive record-setting year.
Bumrah has become the first bowler in Test cricket to claim 200 wickets while averaging less than 20 runs per wicket. He also became the fastest Indian pacer to reach this milestone, conceding just 3912 runs. This feat cements his status as a generational talent.

Surpassing Joel Garner’s previous record for the fewest runs conceded before reaching 200 wickets, Bumrah now holds the record with fewer runs than Garner’s 4067. Among Indian bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja’s previous record of 4840 runs has been eclipsed.
Bumrah reached his 200th wicket in just 8484 balls, making him the fourth-fastest to achieve this in cricket history. Waqar Younis, Dale Steyn, and Kagiso Rabada have achieved this milestone in fewer deliveries, with Mohammed Shami previously holding India’s record at 9896 balls.
