The conviction comes after a 10-month trial in Manchester Crown Court and makes Letby the most prolific serial child killer in modern British history.

Letby, aged 33, was convicted of poisoning some of the infants by injecting them with insulin, while others were injected with air or force-fed milk, often involving multiple attacks. The attacks occurred while she was working night shifts between 2015 and 2016 at the Countess of Chester hospital.

The youngest victim was just one day old. The nurse left a handwritten note indicating her guilt, stating, “I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to care for them. I am a horrible evil person. I AM EVIL I DID THIS.”

Despite her seemingly happy demeanor on social media and her portrayal as a caring nurse, the trial revealed her as a determined killer. The victims’ families expressed their heartbreak and devastation in a statement.

Letby faces a lengthy prison term and possibly a rare full life sentence when she is sentenced. The case came to light when doctors became concerned about the number of unexplained deaths and collapses in the neonatal unit. After an investigation, Letby was identified as the person responsible for the attacks.

Her actions have led to a government-ordered independent inquiry into how the concerns raised by clinicians were dealt with by the hospital. Police are also conducting further investigations into her time as a nurse to determine if there are more victims.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
