British Delegation Arrives in Pakistan to Assess Aviation Safety Standards

A delegation from the UK Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has arrived in Pakistan to assess the country’s aviation safety standards. This visit is a significant step towards the potential resumption of flight operations between Pakistan and the UK.

The delegation will review the safety protocols of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure international aviation standards. The PCAA’s Director-General, Nadir Shafi Dar, along with his team of experts, will be hosting the delegation during their visit, which is scheduled to run from January 27 to February 6, 2025.

High-level meetings are expected to take place throughout the visit, where both parties will focus on reviewing safety documentation, operational procedures, and airline compliance with international standards. The delegation will also visit various airlines to ensure their adherence to these protocols. CAA officials are hopeful that the assessment will yield positive results, helping pave the way for the resumption of direct flights between Pakistan and the UK.

This visit follows the recent resumption of international flight operations from the New Gwadar International Airport, where PIA’s inaugural flight to Muscat took off with 39 passengers aboard. PIA plans to operate weekly flights on the Gwadar-Muscat route, marking another step in the expansion of Pakistan’s aviation network.
