The Bank of Punjab (BOP) reported a remarkable 278% growth in operating profit for the first half of 2025. This significant increase was approved during a Board of Directors meeting held on August 29, 2025. The financial statements were reviewed by external auditors and show strong performance across key areas.

BOP earned an operating profit of Rs. 15.52 billion, a sharp rise compared to the same period last year. The bank’s net interest income grew by 116% to Rs. 35.81 billion. Non-interest income also increased by 40%, reflecting successful efforts to diversify revenue sources.

The bank announced a historic interim cash dividend of 10%, equivalent to Rs. 1 per share. This is the first time BOP has declared such a dividend, fulfilling shareholder expectations.

Operational efficiency improved as well. BOP’s cost-to-income ratio declined, showing better cost control and increased productivity. Profit before tax surged by 102% to Rs. 15.16 billion. Earnings per share rose to Rs. 2.08 despite higher tax rates.

BOP’s total assets reached Rs. 2,444 billion, supported by a 23% increase in deposits to Rs. 1,947 billion. Current deposits saw a strong rise of 43%, indicating growing customer trust. Gross advances stood at Rs. 777 billion, with investments and lending totaling Rs. 1,435 billion. The Capital Adequacy Ratio improved to 17.42%, signaling strong financial health.

Beyond profits, BOP played a vital role in supporting government development programs. The bank helped implement schemes for SMEs, agriculture, and housing under the Government of Punjab. BOP’s digital and AI platforms enabled efficient lending, with over 96% recovery rates.

BOP also contributed to delivering 50,000 houses under the Apni Chat Apna Ghar program. This housing initiative supports low-income families through microfinance institutions.

With its strong financial results and social initiatives, BOP continues to be a key player in Pakistan’s banking sector.
