Bollywood Icon Dharmendra Passes Away After Long Illness

Bollywood is mourning the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away on Monday at the age of 89. He died at his residence after being admitted earlier this month to Breach Candy Hospital due to respiratory issues. His death has left fans, colleagues, and the film industry heartbroken over the departure of an icon whose career shaped Indian cinema for more than 60 years.

Dharmendra began his journey in 1960 and quickly became one of Bollywood’s most celebrated stars, known for his effortless charm and versatility across romantic, action, and comedic roles. With over 300 films to his credit, he delivered countless memorable performances, including his iconic portrayal of Veeru in Sholay. His work in Phool Aur Patthar, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, Dharam Veer, and Pratigya further cemented his place in cinema history.

Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades, including the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012. Even in recent years, Dharmendra continued acting, earning praise for roles in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. His final film, Ikkis, will mark his last appearance.

He is survived by his wives Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur, and his children Sunny, Bobby, Esha, and Ahana. His legacy will forever live on through his timeless films
