In a recent interview with Indian media, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar shared a significant detail about his name change early in his career. Originally named Rajiv Bhatia, Akshay Kumar revealed that during the shooting of his first film “Aaj”, he was inspired to adopt the name Akshay Kumar after the film’s hero, Kumar Gaurav, whose character was named Akshay.

Reflecting on his decision, Akshay expressed that he felt the name Akshay suited him better and decided to make the change. He acknowledged that many people are unaware that his birth name is Rajiv, which he believes might have been given to him in honor of Rajiv Gandhi.
Akshay mentioned that when he informed his father about the name change, there were questions raised, but he stood by his choice to keep the name Akshay, as it held significance from his debut film.
