QUETTA – A tragic train Jaffer Express hijacking incident unfolded in Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan region, with a rescue operation underway to free over 300 hostages.
Passengers aboard the Jaffer Express shared terrifying accounts of the attackers’ actions. A survivor stated that the assailants communicated in Balochi, with their leader repeatedly instructing them to focus on security personnel.

“Keep a close watch on security forces; they must not escape,” the commander told the attackers, who were reportedly suicide bombers. Survivors recounted how the militants moved through the train, checking ID cards and separating those they suspected to be security personnel.
The attack, which lasted over an hour, involved heavy gunfire and explosions. While the assailants allowed women, children, and the elderly to leave, they detained several individuals, accusing them of being part of the security forces.
