BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid Visits Injured Women After Rahim Yar Khan Incident

Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme, Senator Rubina Khalid, visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan today, where she inquired after the women injured in yesterday’s incident. MPA Sardar Habib-ur-Rehman, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, and BISP officials were also present on the occasion.


The Chairperson checked on the well-being of the injured women and directed the concerned authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care and extend full support to the victims. Speaking to media representatives, Senator Rubina Khalid said that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway and strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.


Under the Benazir Income Support Programme, stipends are disbursed through partner banks. In light of this incident, notice has been issued over the negligence of the concerned bank and a heavy fine has also been imposed. The Chairperson further stated that the families of the deceased will be provided Rs. 1 million each, while the injured will receive Rs. 300,000 each. She added that the treatment of the injured women will be completely free of cost, and educational stipends for the children of affected families will continue so that their education is not disrupted.
Later, Senator Rubina Khalid also visited the homes of four BISP beneficiary women who lost their lives in the tragic incident: Anwar Mai (Chak 123), Parveen Bibi (Chak 123), Shehnaz Khatoon (Chak 125), and Aleema Khatoon (Chak 114). She offered prayers for the departed souls and expressed heartfelt condolences to their families. On this occasion, she said that BISP stands with the affected families in this difficult time and will provide them with every possible support.
