Biden Team Denies Allegations of Prior Cancer Diagnosis

Biden’s Office Denies Prostate Cancer Cover-Up Amid Growing Scrutiny

Former U.S. President Joe Biden was not diagnosed with prostate cancer prior to last week, his office confirmed on Tuesday, pushing back against intensifying speculation of a cover-up regarding his health.

The statement comes in response to mounting criticism — particularly from current President Donald Trump — who questioned the timing and transparency of Biden’s diagnosis. “Prior to Friday, President Biden had never been diagnosed with prostate cancer,” his office stated, adding that his last known PSA test was in 2014.

Biden, 82, was diagnosed last Friday with advanced, metastatic prostate cancer. His medical team revealed a Gleason score of 9, indicating one of the most aggressive forms of the disease. The diagnosis prompted public concern, especially given Biden’s history of access to top-tier healthcare.

President Trump voiced doubts on Monday, suggesting the diagnosis may have been known earlier but withheld from the public. “Somebody is not telling the facts, and that’s a big problem,” he said.

Medical experts have offered mixed assessments. While some questioned the timing, others acknowledged the challenges of detecting prostate cancer in older patients. Dr. Adam Weiner of Cedars-Sinai noted that men over 70 are not typically screened due to risks of overtreatment. “It is entirely possible his cancer developed after recommended screening age,” Weiner said.

Professor Nick James from the Institute of Cancer Research explained that some prostate cancers produce low PSA levels, making them harder to detect. He added that even MRI scans can miss certain tumors, making Biden’s diagnosis plausible though rare.

The former president’s age and health have been under scrutiny, especially following his poor debate performance in June, which ultimately led him to suspend his 2024 re-election bid.

Controversy surrounding Biden’s condition deepened with the release of Original Sin, a new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios journalist Alex Thompson, alleging deliberate efforts by Biden’s team to conceal his physical and cognitive decline.
