Barcelona staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Real Madrid 4-3 in a pulsating La Liga clash on Sunday, bringing them within reach of the league title despite a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappé.

Raphinha netted twice for the Catalans, while Lamine Yamal and Eric Garcia added goals that secured a crucial win and extended Barcelona’s lead to seven points over Madrid with just three games left in the season.

The win was a timely boost for Hansi Flick’s men, who were recently knocked out of the Champions League by Inter Milan. Mbappé’s early brace gave Madrid a strong start, but Barcelona fought back with composure and determination, marking their fourth Clasico victory this season.

Speaking after the game, Yamal highlighted the importance of the win following their European exit, saying it reignited their title hopes and lifted the team’s spirits.

Meanwhile, Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted his side’s defensive lapses were costly, even though the attack showed promise. He praised Mbappé’s performance but emphasized the need for better defending.

Mbappé had a goal ruled out and a penalty overturned by VAR in a first half that saw end-to-end action. Despite scoring three times, his efforts were not enough to stop Barcelona’s relentless offense.

Barcelona also had goals disallowed in both halves, and a penalty appeal denied, but ultimately held firm to take all three points. The victory puts them on the verge of their first La Liga crown since 2023.

They could clinch the title on Wednesday if Real Madrid drop points against Mallorca — or do it themselves by beating Espanyol the next day.
