In a region of India’s Maharashtra state, 200 men are accused of raping a 14-year-old Bangladeshi girl in three months.
On July 26, a police anti-smuggling squad and an NGO raided the Palghar district and retrieved the victim from a gang.
The girl reported to the authorities that over the course of three months, she was raped by about 200 men. Ten persons, including two women, have been arrested in connection with the case, according to the police. They were accused of helping to smuggle the girl into India from Bangladesh.
The girl claimed that she was forced to take drugs and that she was sexually assaulted when she was first moved to Gujrat.
Reports indicate the Bangladeshi girl left home after failing a school subject and was allegedly handed over to the gang by a woman.
Police have sent teams across the country to make arrests. The gang is believed to have trafficked girls to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and other cities. A case has been filed under multiple sections, including human trafficking.
