The Bangladesh cricket team received a hero’s welcome upon their return to Dhaka after achieving a historic clean-sweep in the Test series against Pakistan. This marked their first-ever Test series win over Pakistan. Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team were greeted with flowers and sweets at the Dhaka Airport, with Bangladesh Cricket Board officials giving them a grand reception.
However, former captain Shakib Al Hasan did not return with the team, as he traveled to the UK and will join the squad in India for their upcoming series. Bangladesh’s 2-0 victory over Pakistan took place at the Rawalpindi cricket stadium, where The Tigers outclassed Shan Masood’s side in both matches.
This defeat pushed Pakistan to its worst ICC Test ranking since 1965, dropping them to eighth in the rankings. Bangladesh, meanwhile, is ranked ninth but sits higher in the ICC World Test Championship, occupying fourth place, while Pakistan is ranked eighth.
Bangladesh’s next challenge is a series against India, featuring two Tests and three T20Is, starting on September 19 in Chennai.
