Bangladesh has announced 500 fresh scholarships for talented Pakistani students as part of its efforts to enhance bilateral relations. The development was revealed during a meeting in Lahore between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s Minister for Religious Affairs, Dr. Khalid Hussain. The session was also attended by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, MD Iqbal Hussain Khan.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz commended Bangladesh’s remarkable progress in key sectors such as garments, microfinance, and women’s empowerment, calling them major drivers of social development. She also expressed Punjab’s willingness to work closely with Bangladesh in areas like renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and flood management to further strengthen regional cooperation.
Nawaz Sharif underscored the deep-rooted bond between the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh, recalling national hero MM Alam as a symbol of pride. He praised Bangladesh’s steady economic growth and dedication to public welfare, stressing that greater collaboration could unlock new opportunities for both nations.
Dr. Khalid Hussain lauded the Nawaz family’s contributions to Pakistan’s development and acknowledged CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership. He reaffirmed Dhaka’s commitment to building stronger ties with Islamabad, while High Commissioner MD Iqbal Hussain Khan praised Nawaz Sharif’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s nuclear program and noted the admiration of Bangladesh’s youth for him. He also highlighted Maryam Nawaz’s welfare projects, terming them valuable for the people of Punjab.
Along Bangladesh, China Announces Fully-Funded Scholarships for Pakistani Students
