A Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training jet crashed into Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara area on Monday, killing at least 19 people and injuring over 50, including children. The aircraft had taken off shortly after 1 PM local time.
Footage from the scene showed the plane engulfed in flames after slamming into the campus, damaging a building and sparking panic. Firefighters battled the blaze, while hospital officials reported treating multiple burn victims. A young student was among the deceased.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud explosion and seeing smoke as they rushed to rescue students. Bangladesh’s interim leader Muhammad Yunus announced an investigation and promised support for the victims.
The crash follows a recent deadly air disaster in India, further raising concerns about aviation safety in the region.
