Another western weather system has entered Balochistan from Iran, bringing rain and snowfall to many parts of the province.

Snowfall has been reported in Quetta, Ziarat, and Kalat. Kalat recorded three inches overnight, with a total of 4.5 inches accumulated. Meanwhile, Chaman and nearby areas received heavy rain, causing water to accumulate in low-lying regions. Showers were also reported in Mastung, Noshki, and Kharan. Gwadar and surrounding coastal areas experienced downpours and hail.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that snowfall and rain will continue in various areas of the country, including parts of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Murree, and Galyat. Intermittent rain is also expected in Lahore, Multan, and other parts of Punjab.

Snowfall has been reported in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Babusar Top and Nanga Parbat, where up to 10 inches have accumulated so far. The PMD said cold and partly cloudy weather will continue in most districts of Balochistan. Strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Chaghi, Noshki, Mastung, Kharan, Panjgur, Turbat, Kech, Awaran, Gwadar, Quetta, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Zhob, and surrounding areas.

In response to the forecast, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued an alert. It warned residents in KP, Balochistan, GB, and AJK about potential hazards from rain and snowfall over the next 12 hours. Roads may become slippery, affecting traffic flow. The NDMA advised people to avoid unnecessary travel during these conditions.

Earlier, the PMD had noted that a new series of westerly winds would enter western parts of the country, spreading toward northern areas by Monday. The Met Office had also warned of cold weather in the province.
