The Balochistan government has announced a province-wide suspension of mobile internet services on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal due to security concerns. Authorities said the measure aims to ensure safety during religious gatherings and processions.
According to the Balochistan Home Department, mobile internet, including 3G and 4G services, will be unavailable from 5pm on September 5 until 9pm on September 6. The Interior Ministry has officially notified the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to enforce the temporary suspension.
The ban will also affect PTCL and NTC wireless internet services in several districts. Areas expected to be most affected include Nushki, Khuzdar, Mastung, Sibi, and Quetta. Officials cited these districts as high-risk zones during religious events.
Authorities explained that the internet suspension is part of precautionary security measures. Security agencies believe that restricting mobile data access will help maintain law and order and prevent potential threats during public gatherings.
Balochistan officials have asked residents to plan accordingly and stay informed about the temporary restrictions. They also reassured the public that emergency services will remain operational despite the internet shutdown.
This decision underscores Balochistan’s proactive approach to managing public safety during significant religious occasions. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and will restore internet services once the events conclude.
Residents are urged to cooperate with authorities and follow official announcements to ensure a safe and peaceful observance of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. The government emphasized that the suspension is temporary and focused solely on security and public safety.
Balochistan’s authorities continue to coordinate with law enforcement agencies to mitigate risks and ensure that religious events proceed smoothly across the province.
