Balochistan Prolongs School Holidays to Support Fuel Conservation Efforts

The Balochistan government has announced an extension in school holidays, directing all public and private educational institutions to remain closed until March 31. The decision is part of broader measures aimed at managing resources during the current situation.

Despite the extended school holidays, certain academic and administrative activities will continue without disruption. Authorities have confirmed that student enrollment campaigns, updates to the digital school census, and already scheduled examinations will proceed according to plan. Schools have been advised to ensure that these processes remain on track.

Earlier, a similar step was taken in Punjab, where school holidays were declared for two weeks as part of efforts to conserve fuel, particularly petrol and diesel, amid the uncertain global environment. The move reflects growing concerns over potential economic challenges linked to international developments.

In Punjab, while physical classes were suspended, institutions were instructed to continue academic activities through online platforms wherever possible. This ensured that students’ education remained uninterrupted despite the closures. The decision had also been signaled earlier by Maryam Nawaz.

According to the official notification, all public and private schools in Punjab were closed from March 10 to March 31, 2026, specifically for fuel conservation purposes. However, examinations and assessments already included in the academic calendar are being conducted as scheduled.

Authorities have emphasized strict compliance with these directives. District Education Authorities (DEAs) and relevant officials have been tasked with ensuring that institutions follow the guidelines properly while maintaining continuity in essential academic functions during the period of school holidays.
