The government of Balochistan has approved its first-ever Transgender Policy, marking a historic step toward inclusion and equal rights. The decision was made in a cabinet meeting that also ratified several reforms to promote welfare and sustainable development.
The new policy aims to protect the rights of the transgender community and support their role in social and economic life. Alongside this, the cabinet approved the creation of a Minority Endowment Fund to ensure better opportunities for religious minorities across the province.
In transport, a Provincial Aviation Strategy and a three-year Aviation Development Plan (2025–2027) were sanctioned. These projects will improve air travel facilities and connectivity. The Aviation Directorate was praised for its recent emergency mission, which airlifted three injured patients from Turbat to Karachi.
Key governance measures were also finalized. Sakran and Karbala were upgraded to Tehsils, providing residents easier access to services. Two important bills, the Law of Evidence Amendment Bill and the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2024, were ratified. To promote social peace, a ban was placed on publishing hate material.
The cabinet approved bringing Technical Education and Vocational Training Institutes under the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority. It also cleared plans for Prince Fahd Hospital in Dalbandin, aimed at delivering modern healthcare. In addition, Hospital Waste Management Rules 2025 were approved to ensure safe disposal of medical waste.
Other steps included restoring original names of certain districts as directed by the Supreme Court, and exempting World Food Programme consignments for Afghanistan from development charges.
Chief Minister Bugti said these measures reflect the vision of inclusive growth, transparency, and good governance. He added that Balochistan will continue investing in health, education, and infrastructure to uplift all communities, including women, minorities, and transgender citizens.
