A case has been filed against Bahria Town over illegal plotting near the Soan River. The Rawat Police registered the case following complaints about land filling and unauthorized construction.
The First Information Report (FIR) names Bahria Town CEO Ali Riaz as a key accused. Other officials named include Deputy CEO Muhammad Ilyas, Engineer Muhammad Saleem, and General Manager Chaudhry Jameel.
The FIR alleges that Bahria Town carried out illegal land filling along the Soan River bank. This activity is said to violate environmental and city development rules. The complaint also claims that sewage and contaminated water from Bahria Town have been discharged into the river.
Additionally, Bahria Town is accused of launching unlawful promotions for plot sales. The housing society reportedly sold plots without proper approvals or clearances. Authorities warn this violates the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976.
Several official notices were sent earlier to Bahria Town management about unauthorized plotting. However, the FIR says the company ignored these warnings and continued its operations.
During the investigation, Rawat Police raided Bahria Town’s Phase 8 office. Engineer Muhammad Saleem was arrested in connection with the case. The FIR was filed on the complaint of RDA Scheme Inspector Imran Hussain Jafri under five different legal provisions.
The authorities say Bahria Town has misled the public by promoting and selling plots unlawfully. They have urged the company to stop all illegal activities immediately.
This case highlights growing concerns over illegal land use and environmental damage near the Soan River. The ongoing investigation will determine further action against Bahria Town.
