Babar Azam's Father Defends Son Amid Criticism from Former Cricketers

Babar Azam’s father, Azam Siddique, has come forward to defend his son after the former Pakistan captain was excluded from the national squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Taking to Instagram, Siddique criticized remarks made by ex-cricketers regarding Babar’s exclusion, emphasizing his son’s continued excellence, including his inclusion in the ICC T20I Team of the Year.

Siddique expressed confidence that Babar would make a strong comeback through his performances in the National T20 and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), asserting that his son’s omission is only temporary. He urged former players to be cautious in their commentary, warning that they might not appreciate a response if someone were to reply to their criticism.

“You are part of the past and will not play again,” Siddique remarked, asking critics to reflect on their own careers before passing judgment on current players. He reiterated his stance by defending his right to support his son, describing himself as Babar’s first coach, mentor, and spokesperson.

Siddique also encouraged cricket fans to review the past performances of those who were being critical, suggesting they check records on the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) website for a balanced perspective.
