Babar Azam Reveals The Reason Behind Pakistan's Historic Defeat Against Afghanistan

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Following a disheartening loss to Afghanistan, Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, candidly expressed his disappointment with the bowlers’ performance, as they couldn’t successfully defend the total.

In the post-match ceremony, Captain Babar Azam lamented that the bowlers fell short of expectations, resulting in a disheartening 8-wicket defeat for Pakistan. He remarked, “This is painful for us. We had a commendable total, but our bowling performance didn’t measure up, especially in the middle overs where we struggled to take wickets. If you’re subpar in even one aspect, it leads to losing the match.”

He went on to say, “We couldn’t prevent boundaries and gave away runs, which proved costly. In the bowling department, we started well, but during the crucial middle overs, we couldn’t secure the breakthroughs we needed.”

It’s noteworthy that this marks Afghanistan’s first-ever victory over Pakistan in ODIs. Furthermore, it’s a historic moment in Afghanistan’s cricket history as they secured two victories in the ICC World Cup 2023, including an earlier triumph against the defending champions, England.

The Pakistan team managed to post a competitive total of 282-7. Nevertheless, their efforts to defend it fell short, as they only managed to take 2 wickets. Afghanistan’s batting performance was exceptional as they comfortably chased down the target of 283 with 8 wickets to spare, accomplishing this feat in 49 overs.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
