Babar Azam Gets Several County Cricket Offers

Pakistan star batter Babar Azam has once again drawn attention from English County Cricket clubs, with offers to feature in the final stages of their season.

According to reports, Yorkshire and Warwickshire approached the former Somerset player, though journalist Saj Sadiq suggests he is unlikely to accept at this stage.

The limited time left in the County Championship and the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) NOC policy have influenced his stance. Centrally contracted players are allowed only a restricted number of overseas stints, and Babar is expected to use one for the Big Bash League later this year.

Babar, who has previously excelled in England’s T20 Blast for Somerset, has never played County Championship cricket. His current decision appears more strategic than circumstantial, especially after being left out of Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad.

While County clubs made late moves to sign him, Babar seems focused on keeping his options open for bigger opportunities, signaling his intent to prioritize upcoming global tournaments over a short County stint.
