Babar Azam Climbs to 12th Spot in ICC Test Rankings

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has updated its Test and T20 rankings, highlighting notable shifts among players. Pakistan’s Babar Azam climbed five spots to reach 12th in the Test rankings, while Mohammad Rizwan advanced two positions to secure 19th.

Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood made significant progress, rising 12 places to rank 45th. Meanwhile, Saud Shakeel dropped six spots to 11th, and Abdullah Shafique slipped to 53rd, falling two positions.

South African players excelled in their recent Test series against Pakistan. Temba Bavuma rose to 6th, gaining three spots, Ryan Rickelton jumped 48 places to rank 55th, and Kyle Verreynne advanced four positions to secure 24th.

India’s Rishabh Pant re-entered the top 10 Test batters, climbing to 9th. England’s Joe Root and Harry Brook retained the top two spots, followed by New Zealand’s Kane Williamson in third and India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal in fourth.

In bowling, India’s Jasprit Bumrah remained the top-ranked Test bowler, while Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada moved to second and third, respectively. Pakistan’s Nauman Ali dropped to 11th. In T20 rankings, Australia’s Travis Head retained his top spot among batters, with Babar Azam improving to 6th. Akeal Hosein of the West Indies held his position as the top T20 bowler.
