Federal Energy Minister Awais Leghari stated that the uninterrupted power supply for consumers is a top priority for the government. He made the remarks while inaugurating the newly launched 118 service, designed to enhance accountability and efficiency in the energy sector.

Awais Leghari highlighted that every error within the power system will be identified, and officials responsible for mistakes will be held accountable. He described the 118 service as an important step to uncover operational shortcomings without exception.

The minister emphasized that progress in the energy sector depends on cooperation among the prime minister, field officials, and previous governments. He acknowledged that influence and recommendations are common, but under the new system, accountability is unavoidable.

He further explained that the prime minister’s vision is to eliminate the culture of recommendations across all departments. Under this framework, Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and Executive Engineers (XENs) are required to resolve issues promptly and efficiently.

Awais Leghari reiterated that the 118 service will ensure transparency and responsibility, guaranteeing that every concern raised is addressed. The system aims to improve departmental efficiency while ending the recommendation culture that has traditionally slowed down administrative processes.

The launch of the 118 service marks a significant development in Pakistan’s energy sector. It provides a direct channel for consumers to report issues and ensures timely resolution while holding officials accountable.
