Authorities ban use of high-beam and modified lights

Authorities in Peshawar have enforced a strict ban on the use of all high-intensity vehicle lights, including laser beams, modified headlights, and other excessively bright lighting systems. Officials say these lights have become a major safety concern, particularly during nighttime driving, as they can temporarily blind other motorists and significantly increase the risk of road accidents.

Traffic police highlighted that high-beam and altered lights are among the leading causes of collisions after dark, endangering both drivers and pedestrians. To tackle the issue, the government has not only prohibited their use but has also outlawed the sale and purchase of such lighting equipment. Anyone found violating the regulation will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with disobedience of official orders.

The move is part of a broader effort to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by glare and impaired visibility. Authorities believe the measure will help create safer driving conditions and protect lives on busy city roads.

Meanwhile, a tragic accident in the Lower Mohmand tribal district claimed multiple lives on Friday. A Toyota Fielder traveling from Ambar to Yekah Ghand reportedly lost control while taking a sharp turn and fell into a deep ravine. The crash resulted in the deaths of six people and left one injured.

Rescue officials said three passengers died on the spot, while the injured individual was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, three others later succumbed to their injuries. The bodies were transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ghazni for post-mortem examinations and legal procedures.

The deceased were identified as Wazir Khan, Zardol, Zahir Gul, Mir Alam, Ghulam Saeed, and Noor Bashar. The lone survivor, Gul Badshah, is currently receiving treatment and remains in stable condition.
