Australian cricketer Nic Maddinson has revealed that he has been diagnosed with testicular cancer, sharing details of his health battle and treatment journey. The 33-year-old batter said the diagnosis came earlier this year after he noticed a lump and decided to seek medical advice.

Maddinson, who has represented Australia in three Test matches and six T20 internationals, underwent surgery to remove the tumour. However, doctors later confirmed that the cancer had spread to his abdominal lymph nodes and lungs. He then began nine weeks of chemotherapy, which ended in July.

Speaking about his experience, Maddinson described the treatment period as one of the toughest times of his life. He mentioned dealing with fatigue, hair loss, and emotional challenges but said he remained positive throughout. The cricketer credited his family, teammates, and medical staff for their constant support.

In September, Maddinson received encouraging news when doctors confirmed that the treatment had been effective. He has since returned to light training and hopes to be back on the field by the end of 2025.

The Australian batter also used the opportunity to raise awareness about early cancer detection, urging men to pay attention to their health and not delay medical checkups.

Fans and fellow players from across the cricket world have sent messages of support, praising his strength and determination to overcome the illness.
