Australia’s fast bowlers took control of the day, with Scott Boland (4/31) and Mitchell Starc (3/49) sharing seven wickets between them, leaving India struggling to build any momentum.

Jasprit Bumrah emerged as India’s top scorer with 22 runs, including a six, but his efforts were not enough to save the team. The final blow came when Pat Cummins dismissed Bumrah with a top-edged pull shot, ending India’s innings at 179/9.
Australia responded with 8/0 at the end of Day 1, trailing India by 177 runs. With the strong showing from the Australian bowlers, they are in a commanding position heading into Day 2.
