Atiqa Odho Urges Bold And Horror Dramas To Be Broadcast At 10PM

Veteran actress Atiqa Odho has called for Pakistani dramas featuring bold, horror, or mature content to be aired at 10 PM. She said this would ensure that only adult audiences view such material.

Speaking on a private TV channel, Atiqa Odho joined fellow actresses Nadia Khan and Marina Khan in discussing the rise of bold themes in Pakistani television dramas.

Nadia Khan highlighted that many dramas airing at 8 PM contain dialogues and scenes unsuitable for children and teenagers. She emphasized that young viewers should not watch such content during family viewing hours.

Atiqa Odho agreed, stressing that dramas designed for adults should not be scheduled during prime time. She cited recent dramas like Dhain and Sher, noting that their strong language, dangerous sequences, and adult themes make them inappropriate for minors.

“These dramas are made for adults, not children,” Odho stated. She added that airing such content early in the evening risks exposing minors to unsuitable material.

Traditionally, Pakistani dramas are broadcast between 7 PM and 9 PM, considered the most popular and widely viewed time slots. However, with more mature content appearing on television, critics and industry veterans are questioning whether prime-time family viewing is appropriate.

Odho suggested that dramas with sensitive or adult-oriented content should be scheduled at 10 PM or later. She argued this approach would allow networks to maintain creative freedom while fulfilling their social responsibility.

By shifting bold and horror dramas to later time slots, networks can protect young audiences and still offer creative content for adults. Industry experts say this move may balance entertainment with family-friendly programming.

Overall, Atiqa Odho’s recommendation highlights the need for responsible broadcasting practices as Pakistani television evolves to include more mature and intense storytelling.
