The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the release of PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi after acquitting him in two cases linked to the May 9 riots.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill issued separate release warrants to the superintendent of Central Jail Kot Lakhpat for cases registered under FIRs 768/23 and 103/23. The warrants instructed Qureshi’s immediate release if not required in any other case.
In the same proceedings, Judge Gill issued commitment warrants for PTI leaders Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, directing their imprisonment as per law. He also ordered the forfeiture of their properties, along with other convicted PTI workers, under Section 7(2) of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
Across Punjab, ATCs have ordered the confiscation of properties belonging to over 120 PTI lawmakers and supporters in connection with the May 9 unrest, which saw attacks on military and state properties following Imran Khan’s arrest.
